Friends of the Lathrop House seek donations
for relocation, renovation

The Friends of the Lathrop House are seeking charitable donations to enable
the group to relocate and renovate the residence to a living museum, as a
tribute and in memory to those Sylvania citizens who took such a prominent
role in early abolitionist activity.
The house that stands at 5362 S. Main Street on approximately four acres,
was purchased October 31, 2001 by St. Joseph Church.
Although plans for expansion are  "indefinite", the relocation of the
residence to an alternate site was announced to be the only alternative to
its demolition.
It is reported the estimated cost of relocation might approach $110,000.
The parish has agreed to cooperate with the Friends organization to
winterize, secure and insure the house, with the Friends paying the
insurance premiums.
Adjacent property owned in part by the parish and part by the city has been
discussed for the relocation.
Checks can be written to "Friends of the Lathrop House", a 501C3 account,
mailed to 5717 N. Main Street, Sylvania, Ohio 43560.
