February 8, 2008  - Tentative Schedule Posted
The first draft of the schedule is now online!

August 23, 2007  - Match at Sauder Village is cancelled
Heavy rains flooded field at Sauder Village, causing the August 25th match against the Ohio Village Muffins to be cancelled.  This match will not be rescheduled.

August 12, 2007  - Hayes Presidential Center (Fremont, Ohio)
A small group of Frogs travelled to the home of President Rutherford B. Hayes to play a match against the Spiegel Grove Squires on their home field.   Frogs players were awed by the sight of an outfield full of trees, and amused by the fact that second base was located behind a tree.
The Squires struck early and often against the Frogs, who struggled to play base ball in the woods.  The Frogs' fielders did eventually learn to play the strange bounces to minimize the damage caused by the Squires' strikers.  At the plate, the Frogs began to aim for the trees, which led to base hits more often than not.  At the end of the day, the Frogs prevailed, scoring 19 aces to the Squires' 18.

June 24, 2007 - Pacesetter Park (Sylvania, Ohio)
The Frogs hosted the annual Sylvania Cup, and welcomed the Wood County Infirmary Inmates, the Midland County Mighty River Hogs (MI), and the Cincinnati Buckeyes.

By virtue of their record of three wins and no losses, the Cincinnati Buckeyes were awarded the 2007 Sylvania Cup trophy.

Throughout the day, a number of base ball skills competitions were held.
Mike "General" Mills of the Great Black Swamp Frogs was named the Swiftest Runner after circling the bases in 16.82 seconds. The Longest Throw  award was given to Michael "Dutch" Holland, also of the Great Black Swamp Frogs, for his hurl of 254 feet.   Jason "Still Employed" Kain of the Midland Mighty River Hogs had 11 catches during the day's games, to win the trophy for Most Fly Balls Caught.  Mr. Kain's achievement surpasses the old mark of 8 fly balls caught, set in 1998 by Tom "Kid Speed" Heinlein of the Brooklyn Atlantics.

May 20, 2007
The Frogs deftly played the field and struck well in defeating the Northville Eclipse by a score of 12 to 0 at Wildwood Metropark.  The Frogs' strikers were paced by Chris "Peach" Pitman, who reached base four times and scored three aces.  Timely hitting by Brandon Monaghan also contributed to the winning effort.  In the field, an outstanding catch by Jeff "Boiler" Smith not only ended an inning, it also saved a wayward crank from an unexpected beaning.

May 6, 2007
The 2007 season started on a high note as the Frogs beat the Wood County Infirmary Inmates by a score of 27 to 6 at the Inmates home field of Wintergarden Park.  The Frogs were paced by their newest player, Brandon Monaghan, who made several outstanding catches in left field and pounded the base pathes, scoring five runs.
After the match, the Inmates hosted a fine meal at the Wintergarden Park Nature Center.  The Frogs look forward to repaying the Inmates' hospitality at the Sylvania Cup Tournament in June.

January 18, 2007
The Frogs are currently putting together their 2007 schedule.  Confirmed matches are listed on the Schedule page.  Updates will be posted as soon as they are confirmed.

September 2, 2006 - Ohio Cup Festival at the Ohio Historical Society (Columbus, Ohio)
On a cold and rainy Saturday, the Frogs ventured to Columbus, Ohio, for the 15th annual Ohio Cup Festival.  The first match pitted the Frogs against the Ground Squirrels from Rock Springs, Illinois.  Playing most of the game with a water-logged ball, the Frogs tallied three aces early and held on to win by a score of 3 to 0.
The Indianapolis Blues challenged the Frogs in the second match, tallying three aces early in the match.  The Frogs mounted a valiant charge, tallying five aces to win by a score of 5 to 3.
In the third game of the day, the Frogs played their first ever match against the Marmont Saints from northwest Indiana.  The Saints struck well early, tallying five aces quickly.  The Frogs were again forced to play from behind.  In an exciting finish, the Frogs tallied an ace in their final at bat to tie the game at 5 to 5.

August 26, 2006 - Sauder Village (Archbold, Ohio)
Sauder Village hosted its annual vintage base ball game.  On short notice, the Carey Cayugas stepped in for the Ohio Village Muffins, who were unable to attend.  The Frogs worked out several weeks of frustration with their bats, beating the Cayugas by a score of 11 to 4.

August 13, 2006 - Wildwood Metropark
The Frogs finished their home schedule with a disappointing loss to the Kent Base Ball Club of Grand Rapids Michigan by a score of 9 to 1.

July 29, 2006 - Marseilles, Ohio
An undermanned Frogs' team was dissected by the Cincinnati Buckeyes (12 to 2) and the Sycamore Grasshoppers (9 to 1).   Extreme heat and humidity, along with the loss of more players during the course of the day, led to the cancellation of the Frogs' third scheduled match against the 1869 Red Stockings of Cincinnati.

July 16, 2006 - Pacesetter Park (Sylvania, Ohio)
The Frogs hosted the annual Sylvania Cup, and welcomed the Wood County Infirmary Inmates, the Midland County Mighty River Hogs (MI), and the Spiegel Grove Squires.
      Game 1 Results
Field 1: Great Black Swamp Frogs 8, Wood County Infirmary Inmates 0
Field 2: Midland Mighty River Hogs 4, Spiegel Grove Squires 0
       Game 2 Results
Field 1: Great Black Swamp Frogs 0,
Midland Mighty River Hogs 0
Field 2: Spiegel Grove Squires 15, Wood County Infirmary Inmates 0
      Game 3 Results
Field 1: Great Black Swamp Frogs 1,
Spiegel Grove Squires 0
Field 2: Midland Mighty River Hogs 6, Wood County Infirmary Inmates 0
The Frogs and the Mighty River Hogs had identical records - 2 wins, no losses, and 1 tie, and were therefore declared co-champions of the tournament.  However, as Midland scored more runs overall than the Frogs (Midland scored 10 runs, the Frogs had 9), the Sylvania Cup was awarded to Midland for the 2006 Tournament.

During the tournament,  three skills competitions were also held.  The results of the base running and the longest throw competitions will be posted later.  The award for "Most Fly Balls Caught" was shared by Marcus "Rosie" Williams (Spiegel Grove Squires) and Dirk "Mack" Westburg (Midland Mighty River Hogs).  Each of these players caught seven balls on a fly during the tournament games.

July 4, 2006 - Wildwood Metropark
The annual Independence Day game saw the Frogs and the Actives squaring off in yet another exciting vintage base ball match.  The Actives scored in the top of the first inning.  Stellar defense by both clubs allowed the Actives to nurse their one run lead until the bottom of the eighth.  The Frogs tied the ball game in their half of the inning, thanks to clutch hitting by "Professor" Potter.  The Actives charged back in the top of the ninth (helped by some fielding miscues), and held on to win by a score of three to one.

July 1, 2006 - Victoria Park, Woodstock, Ontario
The Actives of Woodstock, Ontario, hosted the Frogs in their annual Canada Day Match.  The Actives broke open a close game (*cough*) by tallying six aces in their half of the 4th inning, and held on to win a close (*coughcough*) match.  The Frogs, being true gentlemen, ensured a happy Canada Day for their sister city brethren by leaving their bats in customs.

June 25, 2006 - Wildwood Metropark
This date marked the first meeting of the Frogs and the Infirmary Inmates of Wood County.  The Frogs greeted their new rivals with a rousing fifteen to four victory.

June 11, 2006 - Wildwood Metropark
The Frogs played at Wildwood Metropark for the first time this season, in a match against the Cayugas of Carey, Ohio.  The two teams played a close game, but the Frogs ultimately triumphed by a score of six to five.

May, 2006 - Sylvania, Ohio
The Frogs would like to welcome their new players for 2006:
Charlie "Ace" Ferry, Mike "Dutch" Holland, Tyler "Junior" James, and Jeremy "Professor" Potter!
