Modifying an existing account in Microsoft Office Outlook

SEV is moving their email  servers to new hardware at American Broadband. These changes are required so you can send and receive mail. 

MS Outlook

  • From the menu bar click on Tools -> email accounts from the dropdown menu
  • In the subwindow that opens, select "View or change existing e-mail accounts" then click on Next



    Highlight the account you wish to change and click on Change

  • Change the outgoing mail server to mail.bex.net or other Buckeye mail server.  Because the server is on Buckeye's network, this setting is supplied by Buckeye.
  • Under Logon Information, the username must be in the form of username@sev.org.
  • Click on the More Settings button

  • In the subwindow that opens, select the Outgoing Server tab


     
  • Check the "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" option and check "Log on using" radio button
  • Fill in the Account Name and Password.  This account was set up for you by Buckeye and mailed to you. This account should use the same Account Name and Password as your SEV account. Buckeye Tech Support can furnish these to you if you are unsure.
  • Click OK
  • Click on "Test Account Settings".  This will test the changes that you have just made.
  • If all test pass, then click on Next and then OK
  • If this test fails, there is a problem with the Buckeye email account set up for you by Buckeye.  Please call Buckeye's Tech Support to resolve this problem.  Remember, you are a Buckeye customer and because you are sending mail using Buckeye's network, they will assist you in making this change.
