Outlook Express

Modifying an existing account in Outlook Express

Once you have converted to AMBT DSL or dial-up, these changes are required so you can send and receive mail.
  • Open Outlook Express
  • Choose Tools and then Accounts
  • Highlight your SEV mail account (probably mail.sev.org)
  • Choose Properties.

  • Choose the Servers tab.
  • Check that the Incoming mail server is 'mail.sev.org'
  • Change the Account Name so it has the form  username@sev.org
  • Change the Outgoing mail server to 'mail.bex.net'
  • Check the box for ‘My server requires authentication' in the ‘Outgoing Mail Server' section at the bottom of the dialog box.

  • Click the Settings Button
  • Check the radio button next to ‘Use same settings as my incoming mail server".
  • Click ‘OK' to close the window.
  • Click 'OK'  to close Properties

You should test this change to the outgoing server by sending an email.  Sending one to yourself is a good test.  If you can send and receive the email, you are finished with the changes.

If this test fails, please call American Broadband Tech Support to resolve this problem.  They can assist you in making this change.
